Enrolled Agent (EA)
Federally-licensed tax practitioner with unlimited representation rights before the IRS.
Practice scope
EAs are licensed by the IRS (not by a state) and have unlimited representation rights before all IRS offices for any tax matter. Practice is governed by Circular 230; discipline by OPR.
